Week 8 dictation

The Grand Raffle
A grandfather and his grandson entered a raffle. The grandfather was baffled when he saw the prizes. First prize in the raffle was a rifle and second prize was some trifle. His grandson really wanted to win the rifle. The boy’s grandfather was glad however that this did not occur and that his grandson won the trifle instead.

Why should a leprechaun give you some of his gold?

Dear children of Year 3,
Top of the mornin’ to ye!  This is Cabbage Lips O’Malley here and I have been dancing around the traps at St. Peters during the weekend.  It seems as though ye are havin’ a fantastic party this Friday.  Be sure to look out for me!  I am light on me feet and love to spread me cheer.  I have plenty of gold in me wee little pockets but wonder who would like a share.  Write and tell me why I should share it with ye and perhaps come St. Patrick’s Day there will be a golden surprise for ye.  I will be watchin’ during the week to check on how ye’re doing.

From Cabbage Lips O’Malley

P.S. I am better lookin’ than this!

Week 7 Dictation

What Makes Me Giggle?
Many things would make me giggle.  Getting away with smuggling my puppy into school without the teachers knowing would make me giggle.  Winning a raffle would make me giggle.  Being selected as the single most outstanding child in anything would also make me giggle with delight.  But a simple tummy tickle would make me giggle and giggle and giggle.
