Week 5 Dictation

5 Fiddle Playing

There was a girl who played her fiddle in the morning, at noon and at night.  She played her fiddle to babies sleeping in their cradles.  She played her fiddle by candlelight.  She played her fiddle in the middle of the crowds that were huddled and she even played while standing in the middle of puddles.  But this strange girl could not handle playing her fiddle on stage.

Week 5 Dictation

4 A Bird Without Feathers

Over breakfast Heather and I discussed the weather.  Following this, Heather explained how she had read about an odd bird.  This bird had lost all of its feathers.  This featherless bird was dressed in leather.  The leather outfit made the featherless bird sweat and become breathless.  Being featherless must not be good for the poor bird’s health.

How do shadows change throughout the day?

Shadows are created when an object blocks out some of the Sun's light. The length of a shadow depends on how low or high the Sun appears in the sky. Shadows change shape as the sun moves across the sky. The sun is low in the sky early in the morning and late in the afternoon.  At this time a shadow will be long and thin.  In the middle of the day, when the sun is high in the sky, a shadow will be short.
