Shadows are created when an object blocks
out some of the Sun's
light. The length of a shadow depends on how low or high the Sun appears in the
sky. Shadows change shape as the sun moves across the sky. The sun is low in
the sky early in the morning and late in the afternoon. At this time a shadow will be long and
thin. In the middle of the day, when the
sun is high in the sky, a shadow will be short.
