What causes the seasons?

The seasons change depending on how much sunlight reaches Earth.  The Northern and Southern hemisphere have opposite seasons because of the Earth’s tilt.  Places near the equator are mostly hot while the North and South Pole are very cold.  This is because the equator is closer to the sun than the Poles.
